Leap Before You Look

Lumpy Oatmeal makes me Crazy!

I didn’t know he desired me
He didn’t know he would be my first
The sun shone high over the serrated peaks
As the river demanded attention
And the wind blew my hair across my face
As I watched tanned hands and intense eyes
And wondered why I was there

The late night fire on a lonely sandbar
Warmed my skin and danced across him
As he lay across from me
His voice was as rough as the silt under my fingers
But it enticed me, lulled me as words skittered
Across my body teasing me with anticipation

There is no right time – there is only ‘this’ time
And there is that time on the sandbar
When the river whispered its approval
When the late night sun warmed bared skin
And I learned that sometimes we should just leap
And look later if we have to.
