She Loved Me in Her Dreams In hearts of compassion I sought salvation From those who promised love unconditional; But too often I cried myself to sleep, Until my tears ended and my heart hardened… Sometimes you stare at the midnight skies And grasp in your private thoughts the faintest of stars Until the hopes of the soul freeze and then shatter, Leaving splinters of memories and pain Into the dreams of another’s reality… I realized a heartbeat ago, That when you awake with love in your heart, And courageously absorb the hurt of the day before, Then the future will greet you with an endless kiss, Upon the lips of a beautiful bride to be.
