The Town Of Flibbertyflat I got a strange urge to travel one day So I set off a walking on my merry way I reached a crossing of Roads A and B Which way would you go? Hmm let me see I decided to follow along on Road A Saving Road B for some other day I came to a town called Flibbertyflat And everyone there was wearing a hat Their hats were all shapes and various sizes Some were quite normal and some were surprises They had round ones and square ones and some that were red But everyone there had a hat on their head I even saw one on a tall silly cat As he strolled down the street of Flibbertyflat When the Flibertyflatters took notice of me All of them thought I was something to see Each one of them looked and started to stare They'd never seen someone not covering their hair It dawned on me then that my hat was at home I'd left it behind when I started to roam The Flibbertyflatters just could not believe And told me quite quickly that I’d have to leave I could not be there without wearing a hat So I'd better get one or leave just like that I quickly ducked in to the nearest hat store And tried different hats for an hour or more I tried a tall black one and one that was knit But I couldn’t find any that really would fit I tried a blue spiked one and one with a tassel I tried one with spots it was really a hassle I tried one with stripes and one with a ring But try as I might I could not find a thing I kept on trying ‘til my poor head was sore And finally I told them I could take it no more I tried every one from the tall to the flat But none of them fit, neither this one or that I decided to leave that hat wearing place So I wouldn't be viewed as a hatless disgrace And quickly I hurried from Flibbertyflat Hoping never to see another silly ole hat I was not meant to be a Flibbertyflatter Where wearing a hat is all that would matter I’d much rather live at my home address Where going hatless does not cause distress The next time I get the traveling urge And come to that place where the roadways converge I’ll tell you one thing and it surely is true I’m taking Road B without fail, wouldn’t you? |

I do believe if you keep this up you will have a Theodore LeSieg career ahead of you. It has the flavor through and through, the charm, the charisma, the sweet Ballyhoo! I have a yearning to see it all illustrated and in classrooms across America. Superb!!! May I copy it and share it with students when I substitute teach??????? I live in a small town in Oregon, so the exposure won't be great, but you'll have all the credit for certain! Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |

Stephen~ How utterly delightful !!! My grandie girlies will also enjoy this one~ BOTH are avid hat fanciers ... so they might make up their own little verses to go along with it~ ![]() ![]() *Huglets* ![]() ~*Marge*~ ~*The sound of a kiss is not as strong as that of a cannon, but it's echo endures much longer*~ |
