Met a stranger taking pictures
Of a shadow that was I
Smile-less poses; unknown causes;
Tears of what could be goodbye.

Shake this nightmares tale of whether,
Slip this time of never know,
Feel the grip of closer, closer,
Hold me I don’t want to go

I haven’t walked the paths I promised
Or spent the days I thought I’d earned.
A matchbox marks my total knowledge
Half filled with hard lessons learned

All those wasted words – those tricksters;
All those useless verses penned,
I would swap them in a moment
For just one second with a friend.

An old man falls in forest silent
None to miss or hear his cry;
Not a soul to grieve the parting
And none to kiss this fool goodbye.
