I stand in the shallow waters of grief,
bracing myself for the waves of pain.

Like the ebb and flow of the oceans tide...
it is unstoppable.

The reality of loss crashes toward me, rising quickly, threatening to pull me under
and take my breath away.

Tempted to give in I feel the weight of it wash over me, pulling violently as I fight for balance.

Searching my soul for strength, I raise my eyes to God and breathe... until the pain recedes.

Losing you, I will always stand on the shores of grief. But someday...
I will only walk on the waters edge.

Even in this time of grieving, you have managed to express your pain with incredible beauty and grace. Tears were welling in my eye as I read your gentle, yet powerful, words.

In some ways, your husband will be closer to you than he ever could be on this Earthly plane.

With love and compassion,

Linda

Thank you all for your replies. As always I live my life in verse. Every emotion, every joy, every pain....but then, you are poets too, You understand.

Remember me with a smile on your face, or please don't remember me at all.

Lucie,

I am so sorry for your loss.

I lost my mom last year about this time.

So, I have an inkling...

Keep on writing!

Though, words are a fleeting whisper
beside the thunderous ocean of hurt.

Omnia vincit amor
