she bounds silently away
followed by her fawn

Good one Interloper!

Watch the doe come near
just outside the cottage door
hoof tracks in the snow.

Surprise in brown eyes,
she shies in sudden panic,
outruns a squirrel.

My heart in headlights
Stare, the glow of moments still
While I fall to love

Martiwords first brought this inspiration, as teardrop balanced on the edge of a full cup, then this Interloper caused the well to spill.

Thank you both.

With her trusting eyes
the shy doe pierces the heart
like a queen of light

Beautifully inspiring both, Martie and you.

Oh, 'deer'. Three days ago, I had responded to this lovely poem after reading the source of your inspiration! But I do not see my comments! I must have exited out before sending the reply.

So, I shall write another one! Of course "the one that got away" was bigger and better! lol

Anyhoo, it seems to me that Martie's inspiring write has lead to your own inspiring write!

Big, warm hugs to each of you!

Thanks to you all, and especially to Martie for her grand inspiration
