      Strawflowers by Candlelight

I have known a love....true love...
that must now be put aside;
and yet, it will not simply perish there
but shall, instead, remain forever young
to talk against Time!....
as does the glow in old men’s eyes at sunset
or the bloom of strawflowers
flaming by candlelight
in tiny vases...on dusty shelves....
or pressed between
the crumble-yellow pages of poet-dreams!...
Know that love should be immortal!

Oh yes, and so it is.
How love evolves has more to do with spirit than with time.
What a lovely heart write.

The title, (and your name) drew me in..
Your beautiful words held me there.
I didn't want this one to end.

Hugs~Nancy

Bruce this is lovely. I have stawflowers everywhere in my home. They were given to me by an elderly gentleman that myself and so many others will never forget.
Thankyou for this keeper.
hugs, Chris

I feel like this is true, but I think that loves will fade with time; it is the memeory of whome you loved that will not.
