Today is the day I cry for the sun alone in the blue, blue, sky as it burns from the inner out an intense and forever innate abiding and timeless love. There are clouds on the far horizon bent and bunched in predator mode waiting like world evilness to blanket the heat of desire and topple the beautiful sun into a grey, grey, sky. And too in the fierce fire and ice of a life’s so petty hand-outs a woman knows, has always known, that no matter the thunder and rain the beautiful sun will shine again. But I cry for the sun and for love today, this day, of another new age that smothers the young in me! Helen / 8 November 2006 |

Nancy and Chris - thank you so very much for the birthday wishes. Birthdays are wonderful for bringing everyone together but I really wish they wouldn't come around quite so quickly. I live to tell the tale and for that I'm extremely grateful! |

Even if this is a essentially a poem about dealin' with birtdays (time and change; etc.)....I feel that,....there is also much 'food' for additional 'private interpretation' here: innate...intense.... eternal...abiding Love'...burnin' like the sun!...[wow!...thermonuclear love-fusion!] versus the ever-darklin 'clouds' of petty human folly and evils (negative motiviations, priorities, endeavors; etc.) and the ever-greying 'mediocracy' which seems to be the 'social norm' descending on 'modern' societies world-wide....ever intent on stifling 'individuality'.... Along with the lovely imagery, there may be many important 'nested' messages and warnings here...and, the grand call for every 'unique spirit' to unabashedly, unswearvingly march toward that'morning star'...to the fine cadence of whatever 'different drum' may call! |

Secondhanddreampoet - I just have to place on record here my appreciation of your most astounding ability to read and interpret. Not many can or have the time to go "under cover" as it were and then openly state what the poem meant to them. Thank you so much - it's opinions and/or reviews like this that make writing worthwhile. Helen |
