      ‘Bicentennial’ Fantasies
  (in a constitutional wilderness)

       1776-1976    1787-1987

   [to my ancestor, John Adams....
for all who have been given
    no reason to ‘celebrate’!.....
    a philalethist speaks on (alleged)
   'inalienable rights’ and other
    such lovely myths!]

Grey clouds
orange and purple skies
sharp black mountains
dancing silently
to winter’s tune
mock my soul’s desolation
with litanies to the dead....
Still ‘living’....
In this land of broken dreams
where should be ‘America’!.....

I am unspoken feelings
blowing down the dirty streets
nihilistic bones.....
lying on a beach
bleached....dry and bare
by the winds....
of moral and economic tyranny
where should be ‘Freedom’!......

As I likely lose.....
that ‘minimal confidence’ in self,
and those of my ‘kind’....
which some call ‘SANITY’!

A very powerful write Bruce!
Love the colours and use of vivid imagery.
Well done indeed.

Sheesh. Field notes come in handy.
I'm not sure if it is true since I haven't a complete geneology chart, but was always told on mother's side (Thornton) I am related to good ol Dr. Matthew Thornton, a signer of that rusty old document I wave at anyone when they forget they have rights when it may only be because they don't exercise them.
And I am sometimes the jokester, the devil's advocate. .
