And now, here's one for the teenage girl in all of us...(you know you have one!): The Unicorn If only to sense your softness, Or just to touch your skin-- To feel your sweet and gentle breath Wash away my sin. To look into your loving eyes Of purest china-blue, Or let you take away my pain As only you can do. You’ve filled my life with happiness; I’ve never seen you cry. You know my deepest hopes and fears, Yet, never ask me, “Why?” They’ve tried to tell me you’re not real That you were never born But they don’t know the times I’ve spent With you, my Unicorn. I’ve walked with you in moonlit meadows, Sat and watched the sun go down. We’ve counted stars in seas of velvet As the shadows gathered ‘round. Are you real? It doesn’t matter. I’ll still love you just as much. And in our lives we’ll find the answers Living for each other’s touch. You and I have life awaiting! I close my eyes and I’m reborn, Living lives and sharing dreams With my friend the Unicorn. I prefer to be a dreamer among the humblest, with visions to be realized, than lord among those without dreams and desires. -Khalil Gibran |

You're right, she's still there. I loved the images in this one, and the way it made me feel. Nan (Pilgrim variety) |

Thanks, Nan. This is the only poem that I ever wrote that I remember word-for-word, even after all of these years. Yes, it's true. I wrote it for my first love W-A-A-A-A-A-Y back when. Ahhhh, young love! John xo I prefer to be a dreamer among the humblest, with visions to be realized, than lord among those without dreams and desires. -Khalil Gibran |
