Love as a Rose

A cool breeze
Permeates
My soul.

Stirring me
To call out
To you.

You, sweet rose,
Draw close to
My heart.

As dreams merge,
Life sends joy
To us.

A warm breeze
Enlightens
Our life.

We slow down,
Enraptured
By love.

Years pass by.
Unmoving,
We grow.

Rooted here,
So entwined,
As one.

When leaves fall,
We depart
This Earth.

And our seeds
Know us not,
Yet grow.

As life blooms
In springtime,
From us.

A cool breeze
Aspirates
Their roots.

A warm breeze
Enriches
Our roses.

Stirring them
To repeat
Our love.

I prefer to be a dreamer among the humblest, with visions to be realized, than lord among those without dreams and desires. -Khalil Gibran

I like the way each stanza stands by itself, but is a link in the chain.  Nicely done.

Hi, Shadows.

And here I thought that I invented this form!

Thanks for the affirmation!

Hi, Marge!

I was in a flowery mood...  I guess that you could say that it "grew" on me.

Thanks for the love!

Thanks, dollmaker!

I love your kind words...and I love to be loved!  Also, I promise to keep trying to create works that you will like.  Honest, I will!

Hi, Nan.

Yes, I was doing a form similar to William Carlos William's "The Red Wheelbarrow."  I love sparse, sharp and to the point poetry, even if some of my works do tend to be long-winded!

2 for 2!....I've had the great pleasure of reading two "JLHunter" poems so far....and, they both made a most fine impression on me!.....to 'paint' so grandly with simplest, most direct 'plain speech' as the medium of expression is , in my opinion, a "rare gift"!....what else can one 'incurable romantic' say to another?!...roses in the wind, love, growth, change, passage,'enlightenment' and continuance amid Time's 'fugacious whimsy'!....its all here in this wonderful poem!...

Hi, secondhanddreampoet.

You are too kind...aren't you?  I mean, you know what you like, and I'm happy that you so enjoy my work, but I'm my own worst critic.  Consequently, I have to leave the judgment for my writings to my readers.

...roses in the wind, love, growth, change, passage,'enlightenment' and continuance amid Time's 'fugacious whimsy'!....its all here in this wonderful poem!...

Yes, I did try to get all of those elements intertwined into my little write, so thank you for noticing, an thanks for the wonderful words!

Hi, Rich.

Thanks for you kind words.  I often do try to show the circular nature of, well, "Nature."

Thanks for writing!

Hi, TL.

Alkthough I am fully capable of rambling on, I truly do strive for, and enjoy the most, a sparse, sharp and "to-the-point" write.

Thanks for your encouragement to follow my heart!

Hi, KA.

*John blushes*

Gosh!  I got kisses!  And I do love kisses!

Anyhow, I appreciate your thoughtful comments on my humble little write.  Shakespearean, eh?  Well, I would never place myself in such high regard, but since I got kisses, you can!

John, *blushes some more*, and kisses back!
