Songs Of Food For Thought

An escape to the cabin, sang to us

Voice of a thousand harmonious gazes
Fell silent in anticipation of morning
Creeping from your warm side, into the chill
To freshen sleep away in the splash of pink cheek
My body blushing in perfume strewn hours percussion
Still humming in my heart, requires no make up

Ever the romantic, in my scurry of scramble and sizzle
Opening the back door, to reroute sighs to the yard
A candle for the tray, and fresh daisies (thawed in winter white)
Thinking of your eyes as I wander Pandora’s cupboard
Hot sauce, or hollandaise, fevers my brow to high beam
Forethought, gratuitous in its nature, tempts soft wool socks

Cold feet would squeal on the mood, not to mention topple the tray
In my flurry of excitement, the glass of the storm door makes remark
As timid as my heart can be, there proceeds another part of me, quite supple
Satin bows low, straps careless, screening leg and wool sock
Comfortable hair, and casual demeanor makes an appearance fetching
On calico apron, accents in the mood of a French maid by fair weather

I hear the bedsprings squeak in turn over, causing quite a stir
Happiness so sumptuous; in the autumn, in the morning, in love
Fresh perked must balance squarely, thus beginning my ascent
Leading with my best foot forward, the door pardons these full arms
Your scent greets me, filling the air with simmering appetite
Surprise makes adventure worthwhile, when you moan and lift the covers

My eyes dance of welcoming, in choir, and breakfast still hot

This belongs on top

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

Even many of the  couplets in this fine ‘write’  are virtually ‘poems’ in their own right!
[and, in putting them together... the mix becomes absolutely sublime!]....
For example:

Voice of a thousand harmonious gazes
Fell silent in anticipation of morning

Happiness so sumptuous; in the autumn, in the morning, in love

(to me.....that is  truly, definitively
  ‘as good as it gets’!!):

Grand praise from an ‘incurable romantic’!!
