I cede To the wisdom of the fates To the keeper of the gates To the master of what will be I now know I hold not the key To forever, or some sad simile Between what is now Or what shall be For this rose Is indeed a rose That draws her own blood Forth From her own thorns And Lord! Where will I find peace? I cede To the depths of present despair My heart will know no repair For I can never hope to be What others would make of me How do I hope to make them see I cannot change And remain free For this rose Is indeed a rose That draws her own blood Forth From her own thorns And Lord! Where will I find peace? I cede And bow on knees fairly sore A mind, weary to the core Of today’s continuing fight The endless road to prove right When I tire of the boundless fight of what lies beyond vision But not beyond sight For this rose Is indeed a rose That draws her own blood Forth From her own thorns, And Lord! When will I find peace? |

I found a wonderful poem and a woman that I think of as "friend' ... I was thinking of you a bit ago and here you are. I am saving this poem because it really reached out to me and grabbed at my heart. Can you tell how much I like it? xoxoxo A |

peace seems like such a simple thing to want, to ask for, but the hardest thing to find at times |

Alison, yes you are a friend, and a dear one at that. Thank you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Kate, It seems I am dropping in and out of late. I will be back soon, but I do continue to think of you, whether or not I am here. I'm still reading, and still in awe. Sandra |

Dixie, I know you understand the concept of chasing peace, and of how elusive it may be at times. Thank you for the read. Sandra |

I suppose you start with figuring out who you are, and seeking happiness, through knowledge and choices. Once you can feel like you are making the right choices, you have done your part...James |

Thank you James, for your view. You are probably quite right, though there are those all to frequent moments when it is just so much easier to say "I cede". Sandra |
