drumbeats in the trees
rustling leaves dance,
syncopation

thump
     thump
          thump
banging deadwood pieces
defining an ending note

shhhh shhhh  shhhh
the wind whistles,
be still

as weighted limbs
float downstream
carrying thoughts past
a symphony of gurgles and babbles
over the falls

kerplunk!

splashing down
to rest in silent sound traps,
or perhaps
      continue downstream
          engraving
           etching

embedded within
thoughts
able to travel
across seas

...shhhhh...
sounds of silence
can yet
be heard
