Sundown hovering
on the sidewalk
of a small town
two girls
in yellow mirror dresses
always pull eyes
no one had to tell her
she could feel him
looking over the rim
of a martini

Shaken and stirred
the swill of chilled liquor,
the sound of violins..
the laughter of two lookers
in yellow....the sensual
charm of her...as he looked,
as she looked back...eyes
unwavering...they both
knew....

dangling shoe from toe
she turned inside of leg
to his look
leaned in
downlashed
whispered…
body warmed to his
distant touch
tongue flicked the rim of her glass

Absorbing
The pimiento…
A lone olive awaiting
It’s fate.

His wandering eyes
traveling a curving trail toward
Silken spires and flaming lips
As the devil waited to chase
The moon and her look
stoked his fires.

Brazened by his rambling glance
she did those hand things
that women do so well
men always seem to understand
slender finger in the mouth
adjustment to a shoe
touch on her companion’s arm
ever so slight nod
in his direction
sensed by only him
and the lone olive

Lifted her eyes
smile curved his way
chastened moon watched
from behind the devil’s shoulder

His change chilling his pocket,
Would she follow? A hurried
Glance bought the river’s
Bend…A friendship sought
And wished to never end. A
Lightning thrust as waters
Rode the shore…and one
Might trust to be forever more.

she rose graceful
whispered to her yellow dress friend
behind a soft hand
with one final laugh
she defied the devil
and winking at the moon
she followed
the river’s bend

A different style, than either, and well disposed of both.  Nicely done.

I got goosebumps reading this especially well-written collaboration! ~ the good kind of goosebumps! It was as though you two wrote with one pen and the ink was liquid gold!

Totally enjoyed!

Hugs and kudos to Lady Kate and the Mag-nificent One!

Now, this is a duet...your styles
blended well, but each of your individual
personalities came through gloriously!

Such a treat!
