So Less Is Much

I know you have not forgotten
the part you played upon my soul
listing my boat and then recovery
deep drowning to take a breath

A poem to you still my child
your spirit big is shown
telling sunrise how to open
your birth day within my own

The years would think to lose
the recovery of your face
remark the winsome still
it’s mine as well as yours
this attitude this trace

Did you like bacon Saturdays
and leave your hair uncombed for hours
loll and lag in simple unmade bed
beguile the bathtub with no no
I don’t recall
those pots and pans with years I've filled

I only know the deepest place
where love is smitten with itself
and blooms all day
and even death can’t shake
the phantom sound of give not take

So pay no mind to lack of touch
within this play we wrote ourselves
a given tapestry that won’t wear out
no stars or wings or trees can say
how better planned my life could be
this way that seemed so less is much
-------

In memory of my daughter Michelle on her birthday

Memories like these
are what poems
are made of...

straight from the heart...
to be shared,
and carried.

Love you for this...
and wishing Michelle
a happy little birthday...
for all of the memories
she continues to make.

OhSweetSis~
In moments such as this
your love of Michelle stretches through time
surely reaching the eyes of angels,
repeated and sung ... for the Heaven's know this sound of love-in-surround~

When you write of her, there is such a deep lovemagic that I feel almost unqualified to make any comment at all. I think this may be one of your best poems of her, as you know....which makes it one of your best poems.
