sun shines down from a clear sky blinding the eyes of the unprotected wind whips around clothes and flesh drying the sweat the instant it appears nothing can be heard over the engine screaming like a banshee on the prowl seeking death in a one and three quarter ton mass of armor, flesh, steel and fire wheels rolling down a road far too long flying as fast as she can yet she can only go so fast is today the day? you can see it in their eyes they are but empty shells working hoping praying planning countless hours spent to ensure their safety it's almost like potty training at gun point the end result is achieved but the cost to get there will never be known loaded with armor that might or might not work making them slower ironic that what should protect them sometimes kills them and they see it all a front row seat to their own private hell friends, enemies, strangers all could be next as if walking around with targets painted on their chests and notes on their back saying kick me time slows from seconds to hours eternity passes comes and passes once more yet they are glued forced to watch trapped in a crystal frozen in time hoping praying fearing the next second in their lives addrenaline rushing through their veins taking control making them a passenger along for the ride yet this is a risk they willingly take a job a duty but the words that mean the most a mission from God to protect those who can't be protected to help those who are in need no matter where they may be black white blue green yellow red just colors but what is a color nothing a way to describe something to make it different a red ball is still a ball blue lights are still lights break a light and it won't work cut a ball and it won't bounce paint them green or white or black still no difference it's a calling as old as time a warrior asking his higher power for help with the balance alternating between protection and death still the wheels roll on no longer can you hear the screams of an engine straining with the weight heavy hearts with burdens only they can bear silently watching the horizon pass blurred in passing faded from glory drifting beyond watching eyes falling into nothing |

Thanks you two. No one is more professional than I. I am a Noncommissioned Officer, a leader of soldiers. |
