I look at it There is my past And there lies my future Times servant, counting down each moment Watching as I live a life The keeper of routine The tick tock of the time clock At times I’d love to stop it Turn the hands back a ways Change some beginnings Take some chances But the then has gone to memory There has been the tick tock of the time clock Time is space A little used And much to explore Monitoring its movement Taking down notes Is the tick tock of the time clock Oblivious to the countdown We age by the second Maybe not as we prefer But wait, it will not Forever does rule The tick tock of the time clock It measures an existence The where, the when On wall or on person Doing its business Tick tock, the time clock |
