Tears In The Smile Of Eyes October brought me maple leaves of fire Golden Aspen and orange Oak transpire Hushed, the grass has ceased its struggling ways While lake effects lay low now on most days I’d written every color scheme the seasons through And sent as many painted lilac notes to you Then finally to be more like the autumn grass I ceased my own struggling ways as summer past In stipulation made the damp of forest floor Question every reason there was never more The sun in its devotion peered between the trees To listen in on sanctuary whispers made upon my knees Misunderstandings happen at the tree lined edge The maple cannot be a fern, nor from it’s rock to fledge Requests that you would silence back what made me cry But what I didn’t say, was left to know the reasons why October brought me maple leaves of fire The letting go of hands, relenting earth to sire Each resident and tender fall of timeless fate For happy tears stand by and listen while I wait Copyright Kkh 10/23/06 |
