An Angel’s Gift An angel soared into this vale When looking for a place to light, While seeking shelter from the wild Through sun-bright day and dew-kissed night. Then setting out to mark her trail Upon this world of pain and strife, This angel formed a perfect child And filled her mother full with life. Unfair as life can often seem, This child was born with trials to bear. And as her body ached with pain, She smiled as though without a care. Through days and years this child did grow --As God helped doctors from above-- This perfect spirit’s pain-wracked vessel Heals with laughter, and mends with love. And so this child of kindly heart Did venture forth to charm this place, With wisdom far beyond her years, In measured steps of ageless grace. The world gave way, the crowds did part To show this child of God a day Where faces lined with pain and fears, Were smoothed with joy as tears gave way. As love and laughter fill the days, In every place Where God’s child went, The angel sees this good take hold, And knows her time was wisely spent. Exalted angel then parts ways --Her work now through, this love well-sown-- Returning now to Heaven’s fold As God’s child now grows on her own. And if the world’s a brighter place --The only reason can be found-- Is where this child spreads her charm And where her feet have touched the ground, The angels follow trace by trace To learn the ways that love has brought, And wonder at pain’s fail to harm The love and joy this child has wrought. Hi, Sarkany. Yes, my dad would agree. Except that HE used to say: You're a poet, and didn't know it, but your feet show it-- they're Longfellows. Thanks for the nice comments... John Pinky: Gee, Brain, what are we going to do tonight? Brain: The same thing we do every night, Pinky: try to take over the world! |

Hi, TD. Yes, my dad gave me quite a complex... This was written specifically for a sweet, angelic girl who was born with Turner's Syndrome. She is one of the happiest people whom I have ever met, yet she has had more trials, operations and pain in her life than anyone should ever have to endure--let alone a sweet young girl. Thanks again for those ispirational comments. It makes me want to write more. John Pinky: Gee, Brain, what are we going to do tonight? |
