We gathered to morn the loss of Aussie legend Peter Brock,
But on day 1 of the Bathurst 1000 the whole nation was left in shock.
We all knew that V8 Supercars was a very dangerous sport
But little did we know of the lesson we were about to be taught.

The whole crowd stopped in dead silence
The angels cried for there to be no more violence.
Two men were barely breathing
As Australia started grieving

We held our breaths as we watched you both cling to life
But when they pulled your bodies from the wreckage we all knew you were in strife
We sat silent as the ambulance slowly took you away
As a million prayers swept across the horizon, praying that you would both be okay.

All the ford fans were on a high, we were all celebrating
For Craig Lowndes had broken the drought and ford had got a win

Late Sunday night I awoke, something felt wrong
Then all of a sudden, I sat up grabbed my TV remote and turned it on
It was the news that left me crying, oh please not today
The news we all dreaded appered on my screen Mark Porter had passed away.

Mark, fell victim to Mount Panorama,
You will be remembered as a true bloody Australian and we will honour you every day.

Sunshine, u are 100% right. Australia has lost many well known men latley and as we begin to morn them another one is taken. I guess that its just their time too go. AT LEAST ALL OF THEM PASSED ON DOING WHAT THEY LOVE!!

I love how you include thoughts about your country and life were you come from in your poetry. It adds a bit of variety to the writes here at passions.
