early morning Latin Quarter fragrant cafés small dusty book stores I passed them all looking for a place to nurse my pain a park in the Paris fall leaves speak yellow jaune dark haired beauty with sweet wrists and hands that stood me on the brink of time offered pastis a game of boules we sipped I beat him I asked why more women don’t play boules women are but a problem he moaned alexandrite eyes lying as silken dark climbed the chimney pots of Paris I became his problem |
