A lost child hiding In shadows not of her making, In silent stillness Her whimpers are breaking. The lamplight glows, She sleeps in the cold loneliness, It’s pain she knows, A mother taken before bonding. Was she too lost, Was she too uncaring, Was she unable of responding, Unable for caring; Was the mother penniless, Was she unwed, Was she lost and homeless, Or was she dead. The baby never knew, Never learned as she grew, Lost a part of herself too. Alone She learned to face a world Ever new. Gloom |
