5461 Flight 911 09 June 2006 The night was still, this day she departed Twenty fours hours till now thoughts of her in grace to live Hearts gathers, moments to amend two across a unity to forgive No pain, this fire of hurt cancelled will she return, in truth the answer was “Yes” A few days, a touch of empty nights for she was there in thoughts meshed A happiness encased within her smile hugs given in momentum passed Ahead the road to liberation braved a hurricane and endured Twenty four hours, her last words given “talk to you when I get back home” her words neither final nor lost On the Morning of 11 September 2001 at 7:58 a.m. - United Airlines Flight 175 departs Boston, Massachusetts Airport for Los Angeles, California, in the United States of America, carrying 56 passengers, two pilots, and seven flight attendants. The Boeing 767 is hijacked after takeoff and diverted to New York City. At 7:59 a.m. - American Airlines Flight 11 departs Boston for Los Angeles, carrying 81 passengers, two pilots, and nine flight attendants. This Boeing 767 is also hijacked and diverted to New York City. At 8:46 a.m. - American Flight 11 from Boston crashes into the North Tower at the World Trade Center in New York City. Followed by at 9:03 a.m. - United Flight 175 from Boston crashes into the South Tower at the World Trade Center. At 10:05 a.m. - The South Tower at the World Trade Center collapses. and at 10:28 a.m. - The North Tower at the World Trade Center collapses. A day of memories lost and to endure, this day forever to be known as 9/11 (September 11, 2001). Least we forget, those who live, and those who died for liberty. © 2006 Christopher W Herbert (a New Zealand Poet) a poet who cares |

as the poem says, I wrote this 24 hours after you left Dixie, and your own words to me are quoted in the bottom of the poem now the whole world knows it and if poetry was revelation, you just made that come true will she return, in truth the answer was “Yes” a poet who cares [This message has been edited by poettothecars (06-11-2006 01:39 PM).] |
