Its beating against the window Two thumps and gone Has flown a hundred times over roof since dawn. It bangs on glass door, presently as she writes; Though windows are dusty from the dirt hit by rain Dried by the sunshine Marred by nose stain And canine paw prints. Small bird, why? Not the first day of this thumping kind; But over two months, His purpose he won’t resign. What message does he bring The Cardinal sent this early Spring? Is he a messenger telling Repent The Cardinal sin been spent and Death lies on the edge? Is he just a daffy bird Banging aimlessly his head? Actually, it is his feet he beats Clawing window pane leaving streaks behind of a slight oil stain. Is it a fighting warrior for territorial claim, flower beds and gutter spouts, or has it someone’s name? Endless charging wears him thin Too ugly, too ragged to be called the State Bird; Still, a lesson in persistence Could from him be learned miscellanea (I have to hand it to this bird. I have never seen such persistence! It flies from the windows in front of our house to those in back, attacking the redbird in the window, at least once a couple of minutes from sunup until sundown. All to be territorial king...) [This message has been edited by miscellanea (06-07-2006 08:15 AM).] |

Seymour, That's what I'm a little afraid of... Call me superstitious? Hark! I am kidding, but it has been close to 2 1/2 months of this I think... It's a little weird... misce Lee, You are too kind... What I admire about your writing the ability to write spontaneously, not especially in story form like mine. Thanks for your sweet comment. (I guess we're our own best critic.) Have a good day, Lee. misce |

It is attacking it's own image Your window is a mirror it is dominant and attacks a competitor Just cover your window It sounds like a neighbour has removed a tree or something and the reflection has changed Put a blind on the window Dave |

Thanks, Smart Chick. It's night time now, and peaceful. It's been really interesting watching the little guy; my staring closely at him doesn't seem to make a difference in his goal planning. Ya think he'd be afraid... Oh, enough of birds. What I want to see now is sheep. One little lamb, two little lambs, three little lambs... Have a good evening, what's left of it! misce |
