![]() Tower Hill ~ Warrnambool (Victoria, Australia) Photography by Sue Tancheff * * * While I am not disabled or handicapped in any way, I felt the need to speak on behalf of those who were. * * * I can look you in the eye But you seem to stare right through Even though I'm in a chair I'm still very much like you There really is no need to shout I hear as clear as a bell But the ignorance of some Can make my life a living hell Please just show me some respect And don't act like I'm not there If you give me any trouble I'll run you down with my chair See, I have a sense of humour I'm quite capable, you see If you look past my disability You will see much more of me I'm sure we have much in common Come and sit by me awhile I promise that I won't bite And that you'll leave with a smile Step inside another's shoes And then you will realise Though life can be a struggle It feels so good to be alive 6 June 2006 'The most emotionally healthy people in our society are able to put themselves into other people's shoes, know how someone else is feeling and care about that. This capacity extends beyond sexual and family intimacy. It creates a circle of genuine feeling that can extend, eventually, to all of humankind' I am in motion |

Sue, I think we are all handicapped in some way even if it may not be a visual thing. I know I keep myself from doing certain things that I should and procrastinate because of those thoughts that handicap my mind. So, like you, I view people through their hearts and actions and enjoy what each has to offer even if only a smile. Good to read you. Lovely photo... M |

I have taken care of, both, the elderly and disabled. They are indeed beautiful human beings with hopes and dreams, and feeling, just like we all have. Thank you for sharing this. |
