If again we met upon the field of battle, swords bristling above a knight’s shield. Where rooks stand poised to castle and bishops slide in devilish diagonal moves. If again the queen might raise a lovely head, pause lingeringly and look longingly into my eyes...she might see the king’s weakness...For his soul steps methodically as would a pawn, a mere pawn....standing apart from the dance. If again the joust might begin, I would bow graciously to thee, for thee art the skies above me, the winds that chase me, the heavens that await me as you whisper softly in my ear....”Checkmate”.... And the victor shares the spoils of war as two dance into the night, awaiting the strike of twelve and the grasp of dawn’s warming glow....a glow matching our own. mmmmmm....I am still waiting to learn how to dance and to play chess. Being checkmated in the manner you describe seems very appealing. Somehow, I can't seem to get out of the laundry room and the kitchen long enough to learn the strategies of knight to a queen. But sometimes, I see the sweetest of Kings. I love the intrigue. ~ Klassy |

You have bishops that slide side to side? I'm gonna checkmate you in 5 or 6 moves. |

Kacy, perhaps "diagonally" might be the more appropriate choice of words... How many moves? hmmmmmmm |

LOL. Yes, the bishop is restricted to diagonal moves. under 10 The first time I played strip chess? I quickly learned you never leave your knight stuck in the corner. never mind... |

Whichever devilish way your bishops slide, they get the job done. Captivating work. |
