The Spring of ‘42 It was then, a time before leaving became a reality...a time when peaceful walks became the fruit of love. A time when ten cents weighed more than a feather and two straws shared a shake as eyes locked and minds wandered....wondering. A time of courtships, of diamond rings and bands of gold, of kisses stolen quietly behind a great oak..where the softness of an embrace brought a shortness of breath, a quivering of damp hands. When cars became a special place at a local drive-in and the tracing of hearts and arrows cleared the dampness from a steamy windshield. And then, the letters came...calling us away, tearing apart the bond that had once been stronger than steel. Goodbye was more difficult than taking a belt across one’s rear. I still think of you. You gave me your dreams, we shared them. You gave me your innocence, you were so radiant, that blush that said more than any word ever could. You gave me your promise, that you would be there, that there never would or could be another.... And then, when I came home....you held me, even though I could not see the tears, the never ending tears...for the war stole away the blue of my eyes and darkness now covers all the land except for a memory of a girl, a beautiful girl with a blush we both will never forget... And your promise, you kept...till the time when I passed away...much older, wiser and very much still in love with you. |

Barry....War steals so many things....but not love or memories...yet, I know sometimes, even those. I was born in the fall of 42...that was such a long time ago. |

You written words so good So necessary With the option of hope I dont that will happen Even if Daddy Wanted it It is almost like a woman Who want's to tease and control Until She think's you strangled And about to lose control She want's you to erupt So she is control She has the next man set up And the poor guy doesn't know If I have got this completely wrong Please accept my apologies Dave |

Magnus, An excellent write. So much loving memories, and than we get to war....and somehow in those memories I still feel more! You'll always have your memories. A poignant write. thanks for sharing, picturegramic :) |

Barry, your mind goes where my heart sometimes is...to a place of love, passionate promises trembling with the trials of war, separation, hope...and changes that come in the interim. Love somehow survives it all, those moments of youth and remembrance that remain unscathed even when reality sometimes does not. Thank you for this one, so much! Klassy |
