OFFICE POLITICIANS 18 November 2004
Strips of tear-smeared soul and heart strung high in the full force and effect of the office air-conditioning while the crazed wild pack, cold, hard, cruel and each with their own agenda, some of which are beyond comprehension, as one, they attack, again and again and again, twisting and lungeing, at the flank, in the foot, in the face, ripping more strips, hungrily, unfairly, mercilessly and without warning, compassion or logic, my ingrained principles preventing their exposure.… and afterwards, on a lucky occasion, a hug and a teaspoon of remorse from the second-most wild, cunning, and self-righteous … and then hours of defenceless empty aching unjust exhaustion into the small hours.
Oh Jesus, how much it must have taken to say, “God forgive them, for they know what they do.”

Diana, I know I have had a similar thought race through my mind at one time or another. Yes, they can seem like blithering idiots, can't they?

Thanks for the support, Magnus and iliana. It helps a lot. Yep, forgiveness, I forgive them far too often. I'm one of those ones who has to make a great effort not to be a doormat!

Thanks, picturegramic, Ratleader, and passing shadows for the sympathy and compliments - all eagerly and gratefully accepted. You Pipsters are worth so much more than they - which explains why I sometimes come into this haven of caring and excellent poets to get away from there!

it seems so strange how some of the most indecent people can be a hoot outside of work, what a shame for them...yanno?
Hugs to you, been there, felt that...

Dear Diana, would you care to have some compassion, understanding, a shoulder to lean on, someone to listen, a loving hug, and a great big pat on the back for a powerfully emotive write?!? ~ Well, I am here to provide all of them to you, my wise and peace-loving friend!
You are quite the writer, woman ~ and !
Hang in there, darlin'! Continue to fly ABOVE their radar!
Hugs with love,
Linda

Thank you very much, Lee and Linda. Although this is an old poem, it was posted on the strength of an attack originally from one office politician on Saturday and spread to others who believed her. Thanks to my very good, warm, caring Pipster friends, and my darling cat and dog, I feel much better. Then, to top it all, my boss said she would have a word with her (my mother taught me not to tell tales, but my boss wanted to know why I was crying) and must have, because those who believed her and attacked (in silence) on the strength of that, were falling over their feet being nice to me today (nobody said sorry or referred to the lies disseminated - they don't do that, but what they did was more than good enough), and the original attacker, was almost friendly and almost spoke to me on one occasion too.
So it goes to show that being honest and helpful and doing the right thing and being known for doing so, pays off in the end when the truth comes out. Thank you all so much, my good friends.

Diana....I believe in the goodness in every person...it is so hard to understand why people act this way...I've been victim to it also as I believe I told you. I'm glad your sweetness of heart wasn't affected!

Owl, I'm happy for you that the storm has blown over and that you didn't lose any feathers in that unfortunate incident.
Good always wins out in the end! Right is might!

Martie, you are a better woman than I am (Gunga Din). I struggle to believe in the fact that there is good in everyone - I do, but with much effort. Yes, you did tell me - and ever since, I have been struggling to understand how there could be anyone in the whole world who doesn't adore you at all times! Thanks for seeing a sweetness of heart in me, but if there is, my heart isn't anywhere near as good as yours.
Thanks Linda, and giggles at the idea of owl feathers lying on the office floor! And yes, right is might!
Today even the original attacker was very kind and friendly to me. Either she believes my story now and feels bad that she attacked me for no reason, or she realises that fighting me isn't going to help her. Just as an interesting fact to mention, 2 of her sales fell through today - which goes to show that I didn't need to "get even" (though I never do that) - God did it, even though I didn't need him to!

And yet you remain wise and kind. Ahh, Diana. This poem tells of your heart. An old, familiar story, beautifully told. Thank you.

Thank you very much Kate. Again, I can't see your reply in the normal thread yet. However, I can see it in the Print version and was alerted to it by Email Notification. It is you who are kind to call me kind and wise and to say this tells of my heart. Yes, sadly it seems a far more prevalent occurence than I thought. Thank you for saying that it is beautifully told.
