My Favorite Dish
I was walking down the road of life my heart was broke and full of strife. So I stuck my thumb up in the air like I didn't have a single care... I guess I was hoping somebody would come along and save me.
I know I must have been looking rough but I really wasn't feeling all that tough. As a matter of fact... I felt as helpless as a little baby.
I stood there for a good long spell wondering which way was heaven and which way was hell... But nobody slowed down long enough to give me directions.
You can get pretty hungry standing out by the road. Just because your naked don't mean you ain't carrying a heavy load... So I just started walking off into the sunset looking for my supper.
I came up on a girl by the way so I sat down for a while to hear what she had to say. She talked a lot while pointing north and south but not much useful come out of her mouth... So I bid her adieu and headed on down the road.
I noticed after a while I was piling up the miles going from a slew of tribulations to mess of trials I was going from here to there but I really wasn't getting nowhere... I was still heartbroke and hungry.
Well I tried everything that I could think of and I was just about ready to give up on love... When a brown eyed little beauty slowed down and blew me a kiss.
Well I forgot all about those philosophical questions that had plagued my mind and give me indigestion... The only thing I was hungry for now was her!
Well I don't know if you believe in love at first sight but if I live to be a hundred I won't forget that night. It was... indescribably delicious!
Well I still get a little hungry now and then but she say's just lookin ain't no sin. She knows she will always be my favorite dish.

LOL...this is so charming...
dare I say it is as good as country-fried chicken on a Sunday afternoon?
Perhaps, even better.
Enjoyed this, Steven!

Thank you Sunshine, if there was a way to put my favorite dish on the market I'd put Colonel Sanders out of business. :-)

Mmmm! Mmmm! My favourite dish has green eyes! And if you're like me, you never get tired of your favourite meal!
Your poem was warm, charming and delightful!

Your love is strong and yet you didn't forget to add life's truth. if you ain't looking then your dead but true love can make you walk the right path. I really enjoyed this poem SteveDebo

LoL Ratleader, when you say candy everybody thinks of a different flavor. :-)
Thank you LeeJ, worn and weary...but comfortable. :-)
Thank you Skyshine, love or food you can't do much living unless you got a little of both.:-)
Thank you Debo, yeah that's true and I ain't dead yet.:-)
Thank you WindWalker, you left out the most important part of that line "She say's".:-) We can both appreciate beauty as long as my tongue don't start draging the ground. :-) If it does she's obliged to step on it for me.:-)

Love the read Steve. The rhythm kept ringing in my head like it was something I heard before. Took me the longest to figure out. It reminds me of any of the "Talking Blues" by Woody Guthrie. You keep good company my friend.
