sleep deprivation

O’ the hoar of unrest!!!

nasty patterns
mindless reptiles
pulling daggers
from their skins

stripping me
from embroidered
warmth of sleep

I find it hilarious
a serious handicap
this march on
the city of mind…
memory shrugs displeased
a mocking gaze
from the red glow
of the clock
melodramatic
conspicuous
reddened eyes
swollen face
walking the floor

O’
for the charity of sleep
I would starve!

Confined, tortured…
death in bloodied eyes
of some infinite chasm
of hysterical night
muttering a language
I can not comprehend
walking a demeaning desert
tight bloody ball of fabric
burning me alive

gesture of imagination
figs of color
misplaced
tight fitting black hoods
strides longer
aggressive
little contrary fancies
slashing my wrists
calling me names

taking notes
of some momentous
hallucination
mischievously
clenching the teeth
of my upper lip
whispering dark
brown
stains
dreamless

darkness
falling
falling
into a liquid chasm
of forlorn

spreading seeds
on dry and dusty ground
hastily gluing
my personality
back together

limbs of my mood
like a wicker basket
howling twists
of winter winds
& sleepless grasses

o
spell me magic abilities
why was rest so parting
as darkness falls
over
my eyes?
should I bother with herbs, as sheep
count all inner intention
leaving behind
an after taste
of
terror
of
black
shapes & sounds

i slink deep down under
fruit-filled basket of
downy scented sheets

cursing darkness
of memory
locked deep inside
layers of mind
with a sigh
of resignation
I nod
I sigh
toss & turn

Then….
without raising my head
sleep betrothals me,
painting scenes of a front gate
of
some astrological temple

light
frescoes...

finally

precious blinks of
unconsciousness
with a background
noise of blissful
ease

garments laced clear water brooks
around my whole being
I am whisked up
by the talons of sleep
accepting my fate
for the night

you’d think
I’d gone
rusty from the plight

sweet spells cure

shaking me

with repeating waves

of amusing memory

muttering like a mad man
tickling countenance
inside a green globe floating...
floating...
floating...

raw magic clobbers my body
with look of green silk
the spell
is finally written

I am a small lens
polished crystal
gulping down virgin
white pages where
sleep roars
the magic beasts

whew finally!

This is all in fun…true, but fun…hehehe
With a bit of melodrama….

fixed it now deer, thanks

We can all identify with the frustration of a sleepless night, however we never are given a chance to appreciate the relief of finally falling asleep until we wake once more. Good stuff

Well, at least you are not driven to melodrama!

You actually have some great lines in here. Nice work!

You do make me wonder, however. Did you misspell deprivation by accident or is depravation a play on words relating to the state of a mind lacking sleep? Just curious

Oh Leej, how I laughed and lived through this. Only I never fully appreciated my constant lack of sleep until I read this. Do I go through all of that night after night?  How you take an incident and make a whole book is beyond me. All I can say is I am envious of your ability. Not enough so as to take away my appreciation. A friendly sort of envy. LOL love to you, martyjo

I know many who go through a sleepless stage but not one, LeeJ, who can describe it as well as you.  Excellent - oh, and I know one who finds fun in melodrama but each to their own, I guess.
