Feast of Assumption of Mary
lady dresses slowly
properly
lost in intention
closes window
against tradewinds
smell of wisteria
and him

altar boys
red and white vestments
remember lady’s own child ankles
thin body
running in poleward flow
now held in doldrums
dangerously becalmed

kneels
prays right hand intercession
for sins of the left hand
body and soul
carries pain to mère sainte
carefully as thin porcelain cup
from Maman’s house
begs release
from peekôn curse of him

skip footin’
light
forgiven
lady dips pink toes
in bayou
smells patchouli
cuts eyes
roue
jaunting her way

baptized
in cigar smoke
Panama hat
long brown fingers
soft voice speaks
    allons

craving soul
condamné
again

Like so many here, I follow charcoal man and his lady through their romance. We are so lucky to have your work. I think serious consideration must be given to further exposure of this couple, and your gift. I am truly a fan.
