today I am remembering your righteous indignation stance legs wide hands on hips eyes flashing beware signs and oh you took that stance often made me smile but I could never laugh at the spinner you are today I am remembering you eating panblanca nibbling the corners talking at the same time I am remembering how you brought me coffee offhand as if you didn’t really do it the way you sang me quiet feet up eyes on mine today I am remembering the way you climbed in that messy car drove away I flew halfway across this country to discover love is better in the same damn zip code |
