My Daddy showed me how to make a "tractor" from an empty spool of thread, a rubber band and a pencil. Countless hours of joy Winding it up Watching it run Across the table and floor My Mama showed me how to run a string through the holes of a button. Countless hours of joy Winding it up Applying tension Allowing slack Hearing the buzzing sound. My son showed me this complicated, fancy toy that he wanted. I could not understand why it cost almost fifty dollars. But, I guess that is a great deal. Considering that an empty spool of thread and a button on a string are priceless. |

not only did it cross over how you feel, but certainly brings to mind...how joyous, marvelous and sometimes extraordinary, the mundane of life, really is... many thanks |

Your poem is priceless! My kids enjoyed making games, building a doll house (rarely played with once finished), experimenting with food, etc. far more than any purchased toy, except trikes or bikes. My grandkids loved making paper, and roasting mini marshmellows on toothpicks over a candle flame more than any toys I had for them. I love teaching kids the simple things like whisling with a blade of grass. Rae |
