Sands of my hourglass drain slowly
into the pool of night where whispers
bring a ring to an ear and bells toll
against the rugged walls of granite
spires.

Come to me my son, share of your
soul that we might stroll the
firefly night.

Hesitance, the turtle’s slow but
meaningful shuffle toward the
oceans that swallow each wave
before the gull’s swoop.

Could this be I, I say to thee?  Might
my walk be slowed by the fear of
that which is unseen?  I shiver of
the moment as the hourglass drains
and the bottom of the glass is seen,
half empty.

Come to me, my son...for though my
hours have passed and your own fill
the harvest bowl...I am here, just
beyond the hedge row.....waiting to
walk just one last mile before I am
but a memory, a smile and a tear
to eternity.

Me too ... and I want to give ALL of my sand thoughts away before that moment comes~

I adore your thoughts in this~

I shivered when I read this
Barry...
poignantly beautiful

"Come to me, my son...for though my
hours have passed and your own fill
the harvest bowl...I am here, just
beyond the hedge row....."

Yes, very easy to shiver while reading this but an excellent and meaningful write!

you have reinterated this morning where true loyalty is....the simplistic joys of conversation, communing with another...especially family, friends....this also, despite your intent, spoke a great deal to me of fidelity, substance, credibility, and the important place of being in life....
hugs to ya
