c'mon, let's go
Ritchie
and we sat on the steps
notes frolicking in the air
sing it again, Ritchie
and you laughed
always, a friendly laugh
and never saying no
as we begged for just
one more song
c'mon, let's go

who knows why time plays tricks
as today for some strange reason
I can still see you,
sitting there
on the steps,
guitar in hand
smile on face

and when all the other walls
ended up
with gang graffitti
and bizarre realities
boldly emblazoned

the wall dedicated to you
stands as it was intended
a fitting tibute
to a seventeen year old rising star
whose starlight fell from the sky
so long ago

and yet, Ritchie
your star still shines today

and those of us who chanced to meet you
hear you, bask in your glow
will forever know

you will always be
a star

in memory
Ritchie Valens
1959

"Come On, Let's Go" salute Richie Valenzuela

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

You were, indeed, fortunate to have had your star paths cross.

A very touching, commemorative penning, Kacy.

Loving hug,
Linda

Yes...I knew what
this was about before
I even opened it...

enjoying the wave lengths
and the length of the wave here
m'dear.
