The Evening Views

I prefer fantasy
to the ten o’clock  news.

I like my werewolves
stalking full moon nights
instead of pacing afternoon boardrooms,
their fur on the inside.

No one sees fangs
until arterial blood
splashes paneled walls.

Hi Nan, haven't seen you much in quite
some time....

Yes,  I think what you mentioned would make
for an exciting night...

Certainly makes one think, and perhaps smile as well

Now that has to be a reason that poetry does exist

a poet who cares

Oh yes....when the werewolves are real it's no fun at all!

And they're out there. My former friend Randy...boys pals from kindergarten, we ushered them through Boy Scouts together....suddenly one evening he's yelling religious bigotry at me right there in the front yard....and the next time I saw him, he was on a TV talk show, as a lawyer defending terrorists.

His son Tariq and mine still hang out a bit, but as for the father.... I wouldn't go near the man.

Thanks, guys.  Ed, what an awful thing to happen.  You think you know people... but so many are so good at hiding.  I suppose the surprising thing is that he took the disquise off.
