I have never felt the love

  That others speak about.

I do not understand the pain
Some profess that love has brought.

I never felt that type of love
     But,
I have memories that speak,

Of kindness and thoughtful ways
Of rearing youngsters in those days,

Of being busy with just living
And keeping life together.

Memories of sharing thoughts,
  Of tears shed,
Over loss of babies never born.

Our daughter, so bright and yet
Found life just too hard to stay.

The son who never lived
    Beyond one day.

Tears of sadness and then of Happiness,
Brought on by little things.
And although I often think of all of it.

I do not dwell upon the loss
But share the memories of love.

You have loved deeply and have been loved in returned. There are so many kinds and degrees of loving, and from your words I know that you are a very loving soul.

The losses of you son and daughter must have weighed heavily on your heart. It pained me to read of your losses.

Your closing lines illustrate the strength and beauty of your loving soul:

" I do not dwell upon the loss
But share the memories of love."

God bless you, martyjo!

MartyJo~
Sometimes the beauty of poetry is found in sharing the memories that are so endearingly positive and beautiful ... sometimes the beauty of poetry is in the sharing of a loss that is perhaps made less in the share~

Sometimes, at least for me, sharing the all of the love ... the joy ... and/or the loss ... is because that often, far too often ... the loss of such joy needs to be revisited ... as the person who gave the joy is just too, too important to not be remembered~

Love your poetic prospective on life dear lady~

   Marge you know me well..
The trip to Connecticut in July was especially to see my friend Ello, who lived and fought a courageous battle for a year and  a half with Cancer.  She had said to me earlier this year,  "Jo, I think I have to go to Florida to see you".
I told her not to worry,  I'd be there and bought the plane ticket a month ahead of the trip.  She was to meet me after work and I was to spend a few days with her.  The last few weeks before I was to leave she said she did not think she would be able to pick me up because she was not feeling well.  I Got there in time to spend two afternoons with her at the hospital.  She remarked about the laughter one of Serenity's  works had given her,  and when it  was time for me to go she said, "This is going to be hard".  I asked, " what is going to be hard' ?   She said "saying good bye".   I told her I had not planned on saying goodbye,  and then she kind of turned her head and waved her hand and said "so long". Then of course we had to share a hug.  We were able to pick up from there and shared a few more stories and too soon I had to leave.  I had to  leave Ct. the next morning.   I called her the night I left and she sounded  very tired. That was a Tuesday.  On Thursday her children took her home.  I spoke to them and they said she was comfortable.  Both her sister and her daughter are registered nurses.  On Sat the 22nd of July I received a call at work,  Ello had gone on at   four thirty that morning.   I have been so  blessed to have had her friendship and love. She lived her life to the end.  She was even able to fly to Calif. last summer after I saw here in Ct. , to visit her daughter and family.  She did not let the cancer slow her down.  A wonderful person and my hero. A hard act to follow.  I met her in 1970 and over the years we shared so much.  She had a love for antiques and a flair for decorating.  We spent many weekends traipsing  all over Ct. looking for antiques.  And she will be missed. love to you, martyjo
