5599 The Spectacle of a Dream 09 August 2006 An empty heart a fulfilled dream Like a vision of daily delight while long ago such images were those to night the night A fear to sleep not wanting to rest a head Eyes closed to see an image in spectacle to read Not knowing never understanding years and years, time never silent Until the month of June a new light and lamp to shine This heart empty no more her heaven, a haven of adore Where the poet stood and walked a shadow passing in ways unseen Until that day such visions became more than a recurring dream “ . . . For I had seen a vision; I knew it, and I knew that God knew it, and I could not deny it, neither dared I do it; at least I knew that by so doing I would offend God, and come under condemnation.” Joseph Smith-History 1: 25 PEARL OF GREAT PRICE © 2006 Christopher W Herbert (a New Zealand Poet) a poet who cares |

try putting up with the same form of recurring dream images, almost on a daily basis for 10 years. Then consider what will happen the next time you go to sleep a poet who cares |
