And So I Write

Beneath the silence of a star
With soul asleep, and mind ajar
At times a phrase embedded deep
In wells of thought will slyly creep

A verse may nudge a slumbering head
To somehow topple out of bed
Before the silent song is gone
Within the whisper of a yawn

And so I write - And so I write
Beneath the ceilings of the night
And so I live, as poetry lives
Whatever grains the hourglass sieves

Until I got to read this line: "And so I live, as poetry lives" , the poem showed no interest to me, but you sure got me in the heart at the end. . . Thanks

a poet who cares

...And I am so glad that you do.....beautifully expressed as always, Liz

Intellectually I know that Canada is no better than any other country. Emotionally I KNOW that Canada is the best country in the world!

I like your mind ajar
lots

there's such a wonderful flowing cadence to this piece, just kinda rolls off the tongue
and leaves a sweet aftertaste

A beautiful piece with words every poet can identify with.  There used to be times I was driving or even showering, that words just begged to be written. It's like the low blood sugar syndrome, only instead of food intake, it's word output.

LovelyLizzyLady~

And in the tippy-toe of night
sometimes I even get it right~

You rock the rhyme in perfected cadence, lady~
