55 Destiny Proclaimed 04 March 1996 “And the clock has started” words oh so true the first words of an American leaving his planet Blast off his rocket did this For Alan Shepard his journey had just begun My clock is ticking Oh Lord don't give me a licking to your word I am sticking I know your not tricking The countdown was over mans' destiny was proclaimed that very day Shep, showed the way On the 05 May 1961 Alan B Shepard became the United States of America’s first man in space. On 20 February 1962 John Glenn was the first American to orbit the planet earth. Shepard went on to walk on the moon in 1971 during the Apollo 14 flight, at the age of 47. To also be the only man to play golf on the moon. He died on 21 July 1998. Neil Armstrong and Edwin (Buzz) Aldrin were the first men to land on the moon on 20 July 1969 (USA time) / 21 July 1969 (NZ time). © 2006 Christopher W Herbert (a New Zealand Poet) a poet who cares |

On or off the moon, what bothers me about the moon launchings are the constant accidents since then. good read

Thank you for your comments, when given the above poem was written 10 years ago, it still shows that my older verses do have their uses still a poet who cares |
