Who will weep for me?
When the rising fog,
Gathers me to its breast.

Who will say I’ve touched their life.
As I scale the mist
to the very crest.

And whom shall I find at the summit?
Will there be the one
I so loved first?

Or will the men who sought
To merely enslave me,
Be there to grab hold of my skirts?

Whatever of merit shall I leave behind?
Will there be echoes of words
left to linger in air?

And will there be ears
Stay, to hear my whispers?
Will I leave behind anyone who will care?

What is my fate, come the hereafter
Will it be heaven or abyss?
I’m destined to see.

And when I’ve answered my call,
Left body to dust,
Just who will weep for me?

very powerful...sometimes we live for me me me, but after we are gone...well you asked the questions that merit deep thinking

this earth holds very little for me and I am ready to not be here any more, but for those that would stay crying...sigh

Sandra,
With little doubt you will not be forgotten. A topic seldom expressed but on most everyone's mind. I did enjoy.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

The age old question
from time immemorial
God has the answer

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

Very good..  Just a teeny weeny suggestion, so that a word appears that is unexpected and so more arresting.

"Gathers me to its breath"  (makes ya think don't it? Hee hee.)

BdeL'

PS.  I will weep buckets.

Looks like you're already crying in your photo! (hope not, obviously)

Questions that are always asked because there is never a true and steady answer to them. However, I believe it is safe to say that you have left at least one pair of foot prints in someone's heart.

Greatly enjoyed,
