5589 Yesterday Unified 06 August 2006 Her eyes were like a heart her soul, yesterday unified Yet there was still the distance and that separation, of untamed love Just to wonder, if grace could be kept to want her hand to touch in flesh Another day of many to await as if that moment of time would arrive Her eyes, that place to escape yet masked, only in a photograph torn That well worn image, scared upon a mind every day another thought, yet trapped in place God created the beginning, He gave the universe a name Then He dictated the terms of sin in casting others out, naming shame So what of this yesterday unified what of this love in eyes kept Would it ever be love both him and her, her and him across a world, one night alone © 2006 Christopher W Herbert (a New Zealand Poet) a poet who cares |
