A New Day Is Dawning
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

As the darkness of night gives way,
To the rising of morning sun,
Welcome the dawning light,
For a new day has just begun.

Slide down shimmering rainbows,
Be a sunflower and kiss blue sky.
Inhale vibrant air and sunshine,
Be a seagull flying on high.

Listen to the rushing of rivers,
And to chorals of singing birds.
Cradle a newborn kitten,
Speak softly with tender words.

Embrace each day with passion,
Be all that you dare dream to be.
Be one with Life’s ebb and flowing,
Be a limb on the great Knowledge Tree.

Romp through lavender fields,
Taste concords right off the vine.
Behold the splendor of sunsets,
Sip freely of Life’s heady wine.

As darkness of night gives way,
To the rising of morning sun,
Welcome the dawning light,
For a new day has just begun.

“We are borne of star dust,
and to the stars we shall one day return.”
~ Linda L. Dowd

I've tried to cradle my cats (they aren't newborn kittens but they're still young enough) and they don't always like it. lol Loved your poem, Linda!

What an inspiration you are!  Clinging to and writing such heavenly lines on the beauty we have before us, when you've had so much loss so recently.  You're truly one who sees thankfulness for the time you had your loved ones rather than dwelling on the sadness of being without them.

God bless you,

Yes, Nancy!

We are surrounded by such gifts. It revitalizes our spirits when we take the time to smell the roses!  ~ both the real and proverbial ones!

Hi, sky!

When our cat Magic (17 years) passed away just before Christmas last year, I was heart-broken. But this spring we got two of the cuddliest, softest, kittens I have ever held. Emily and Felicity (Em & Fissy)have brought so much love to us all. When either one of them walks by, we just call her name and she will climb up on our lap purring so sweetly and snuggles right up.Lately, they don't even need to be called. They just know we are all in need of some extra loving with my Mom and Dad having just passed away.
