5562 Time to say “Good-bye” 29 July 2006 Was it a time to bid farewell a heart given in to what comes first The pain of hunger, and an endless love a time to say good-bye, as forever is a long time When love can be great, while it will last then the truth will open another door The sense and sensibility of it all but was friendship ever just good enough Like an ending to further pain a loneliness never to grant happiness Was this the time to say enough and deciding to pack one final moment The final hours in preparation for death hiding the pain enraged and moving on For who loves a friend, when love is skin deep time to write that endless word, good-bye for good “And surely every man must repent or suffer, for I, God, am endless. Nevertheless, it is not written that there shall be no end to this torment, but it is written endless torment. For, behold, the mystery of godliness, how great is it! For, behold, I am endless, and the punishment which is given from my hand is endless punishment, for Endless is my name. Wherefore— Endless punishment is God’s punishment.” Doctrine and Covenants 19: 4, 6, 10, 12 © 2006 Christopher W Herbert (a New Zealand Poet) a poet who cares |
