Mine

She carries shrapnel now
from all the wounds,
and they hurt her, the scars
and all the cold imbedded pieces,
hard things that are not her.

She hardens too in time,
tissues form like calluses within,
surrounding, holding off the edges;
they bind the pain a little,
but never enough.

It is no solace to know
some of them are mine.

they bind the pain a little,
but never enough.

It is no solace to know
some of them are mine.

But more are not... so maybe it's some solace to remember how many times you're been there to share those pains... whatever the source.

We all cause pain... whether we intend to or not. Some don't care... you obviously do... and write of that caring with healing tenderness.

James,

Seems like we inflict pain on the ones we love the most and we do it totally unintentionally!  The good thing is that they are the ones that love us, and in  being so, have an inkling of understanding and compassion.

James, it is indeed incredible of how actions, words can change lives, for both the good and the bad...
