Sticks and Stones

Sticks and stones will break my bones
and your words will hurt me
but I'll be damned if I'll let you
ever, ever see inside me again.
Consider the shutters barred,
the panes once gleaming and open
now dusty with the dirt of lost dreams
I have been told that friendships are worth
fighting for - right and wrong does not matter.
I agree.
But sticks and stones will always break my bones
and your words have really hurt me.
