Closer To Eternity

My precious God, if I let go of my past
that is no more, for most pain is from
the past, and stand as an empty vessel
before you, would you comfort me, would
you fill this empty vessel with goodness
and mercy, all the days and nights
of my life as I move closer to eternity.

I Am Never Distressed For The Reason I Think...
Typically, we are so out of touch with ourselves
that when we are distressed we never realize
what it is that we really are distressed about.
We often confuse ourselves, diffuse feeling,
dissimulate, and present to ourselves different
rationalizations about what is going on.  We tell
ourselves and everyone around us a good story.
What we are really distressed about is coming from
a much deeper level of the mind (the subconscious
or the unconscious mind).  When we are distressed
in a relationship, it is to our benefit to look
deeper.  The present upset is just a trigger to
get us in touch with feelings that we have carried
for a long time, so that they can get out to be
healed.  If we are really in touch with ourselves
as we feel any sort of pain, we will recognize how
much of it is really coming from past situations;
almost all of our pain is coming from the past.
As we begin to communicate about this original
pain and share where it is coming from, we not
only heal this pain, we regain our natural self-
expression and communication...from the book "If
