Sit back, while I spin a yarn for you,
Of love and hope born in morning dew.
Of fleeting passion ‘neath evening moon,
A tale of a bug in June.

Oh! June bug, June bug,
Find somewhere to hide
For it won’t be this June,
That finds you a bride.
But rather, May’s showers
That rob  you of  love.
A Scarabs life can be so hard.

Our story starts off early one morn,
On a lonely branch, leaves well shorn,
By our June bug dining hungrily
On the leaves of a willow tree.

A motion catches June bugs eye,
As fleeting as a dragonfly,
But watch, he did to see what it could be,
And Lo! ‘Twas a June bug she.

Slowly, the armored lass came near,
June bug could only find her dear.
With her ten lined green she stood apart,
And that is how she won his heart.

Through the long, hot day they dined,
On willow and maple leaves supine.
Til the cool of evening reached their shell,
June bug sighed, for all was well.

But, Lo! Our pair did not see,
Lurking near so patiently,
In web of gossamer spun well,
Where a spider did so dwell.

Our lass was growing so much bolder,
Inviting June bug over her shoulder,
Not seeing the fibers ready to catch,
Our June bug’s perfect match.

And that is how our story ends,
Love  brief, when first you are not friends.
A lesson to keep close to heart,
For I hope we, too do not part.

Oh! June bug, June bug,
Find somewhere to hide
For it won’t be this June,
That finds you a bride.
But rather, May’s showers
That rob  you of  love.
A Scarabs life can be so hard.

Aww, how sad. Lovely though, and a very interesting idea for a poem.

For it was not into my ear you whispered
But into my heart..
It was not my lips you kissed
But my soul.
