In waking hours I pray for sleep
In dreaming night I cry for peace
In golden moment, the haze between,
my puzzle finds its missing piece
and you are there
(where distanced two are closely we)
swaddling me in love

In day's light my heart still weeps
In ebon time my soul still seeks
a safe port in hell's dreaming sea
but one still moment in between
(where you and I once more are we)
my being finds serenity
encompassed in your love

I brave the days that pass me by
So determined not to cry
The nights, I know, will swallow me
(where now there's I instead of we)
but still, that moment in between
the mist 'tween consciousness and dream
there you and I will always be,
happily in love

As the days pass into years
And night no longer holds dark fears
the thoughts of we will not bring tears
but only heart's soft sighing
The hazy moment in between
my conscious life and gentle dreams,
(where we're more than we see or seem),
forever and a day will be
whispering of love

And when time passed does grant me old
the stories of my life all told
in eternal sleep, when eyes do close
to at last embrace my Maker,
where consciousness meets golden dream
I'll pause a moment in between
(where you and I are ever we)
remembering our love

My heart is breaking a bit for you as I read this. I don't have words -- just love for you and a wish I could hug the heck out of you. Your poetry stands on its own in so many ways that I often long to write like you do. But ... this one hurts.
